@cryptodavidw Advice to the poor from the rich is always a distraction from what the poor should actually do. In this case, the hypocrisy is instructive, and the ad hominem useful to the majority of us.
One of the best ways to love your children is to love your spouse. Who can accurately measure how much love one gives to one over another (though people do try)?
Men, do you believe you should love your wife or your children more?
Because to love your children more than your wife is to love what you created over what you chose.
To prioritize legacy over intimacy, innocence over complexity.
It’s the emotional math of men who mistake proximity for depth and responsibility for romance.
The child is a mirror of potential; the wife, a mirror of self. One absorbs your hopes, the other reflects your failures.
Between chosen and created lies the quiet tragedy of men who love safest: where love is inherited, not negotiated; where devotion is automatic, not earned.
And maybe that’s the point?
Some men love their children more because the children never asked them to change.
the climate crisis is not the credits rolling at the end of a film. you are just going to keep living through whatever catastrophes follow and continue living as your material situation worsens
@unherd@sunraysunray Sport hasn't been about "civic friendship" for a while now, and unless we moderate or abandon capitalism, will not be again. Marketing to human vices is big business.
@tim_roozendaal It's not nonsense. For some, like me, wearing minimal running shoes is best. I acknowledge it's not for everyone, but I'm glad they exist - they have extended my running "career"!
