@Katie_Lam_MP It makes sense from a bankers perspective. They made a killing from getting two people to pay a mortgage. They could inflate the housing market even more by getting three people to pay a mortgage!
@slicepoh@elonmusk I think it was caused by the Justinian plague in 541-549, which I believe was caused by a huge volcanic eruption (possibly in Iceland) that changed the European climate for a decade
@Billc1241 I read the comic about 15 years ago. It was good fun, often very funny and Garth Ennis knows how to tell a story. I never watched an episode of the series because I knew what they would do to it and I was proved 100% correct.
@CraigMurrayOrg The only way socialist institutions can be prevented from becoming bloated, expensive and incompetent is with a dictator. You need someone with the authority to clean house and do it ruthlessly.
@KaiserLoengramm The stereotype was earned through the post-war years. Food was terrible when I was a kid in the 1980s - everything came from tins. Worst thing was that it became a part of our culture, almost as if eating terrible food had become a virtue, a quintessential trait of being British
@BretWeinstein@OwenBenjamin C'mon Bret, you can do better than that - I don't think you've given 'no virus' a fair hearing. Mike Yeadon and Jamie Andrews are worth listening to on this subject.
A woefully under-recognised aspect of this case is that Lucy Letby won a grievance procedure against the two male doctors who ran the neonatal unit where she worked, for bullying and harassing her.
It was only after this โย after being found guilty of bullying and harassing a young nurse on their unit โ that Drs Stephen Brearey and Ravi Jayaram told the police that they suspected she was killing babies.
The jury at Lucy Letby's trial were never told about any of this.
They were never told that these two doctors โ both key prosecution witnesses; one a bona fide local celebrity, known fondly in Chester as "the TV doctor" โ had been found guilty of bullying and harassing Lucy Letby, before publicly accusing her of murder.
@JamesHarvey2503 Biggest impact on house prices came from women entering the workplace. 50 years ago the house price ceiling was set by the earnings of one worker, now it's the combined earnings of two workers
@GhostHexpat@baronlordvader "Ladies and gentlemen, give him a big hand!"
Yes, Chris Tarrant actually said that at the end of Beadle's appearance on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?"
@jakeshieldsajj Ask him if he thinks the world is definitely flat or if it's just really, really, really big and we're just a tiny part of a huge globe. Also what does he think is at Antarctica?
