Physician-scientist studying mechanisms of organ injury and developing novel therapies for patients having surgery and in the ICU. Comments are my own.

New paper. A glimpse at future of medicine (I reckon)

By virtue of their 2-0 victory over C.F. Monterrey, @NashvilleSC has earned a berth in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup for the first time in club history.
Reigning MLS MVP Hany Mukhtar & Nashville will host Lionel Messi & @InterMiamiCF in the Leagues Cup 2023 Final on Saturday.
#BHRobbinsScholar Dr. Eric Mace presenting exciting new findings showing high oxygen impairs vascular function but rescued by sGC stimulation (mechanism hyperoxia sGC oxidation?) @SHOCKsociety annual meeting Portland. #ShockCon#PROTECT_Lab@VUMC_Anes
Dr. Matt Barajas receiving Junior Faculty Research Award for Laboratory Science at @AUA_Anesthesia conf. #IARS23. His work on ischemic post-conditioning (IPoC) improving knowledge on cardiac arrest survival. @American_Heart@VUMC_Anes#bhrobbins scholar!
What happened in Tennessee is the latest example of a broader erosion of civility and democratic norms. Silencing those who disagree with us is a sign of weakness, not strength, and it won’t lead to progress.
Exciting opportunity for someone interested in trees, nature, and the future of Nashville. Partner with us! Nashville Tree Foundation recruiting a new Executive Director. https://t.co/IIigjYhL0C
@NeilFlochMD Indeed. Do sicker patients receive more oxygen and have more organ injury? Likely! Yes! Interestingly, medical center and anesthesiologist were the biggest drivers of oxygen delivery not patient. Exhaustive adjustments in this large study but residual confounding?? O2!!?
Higher levels of excess oxygen given to patients under general anesthesia add risk of injury to the kidneys, lungs and heart, according to a large observational study led by researchers at VUMC.
Reported in @bmj_latest.
