Comfort makes you feel good. Accountability makes you better.
Don’t mistake being challenged for being doubted.
Sometimes being pushed is the clearest sign someone believes in you.
Billy Donovan reveals the real reason Florida’s NBA-bound stars returned to school in 2007 and repeated as national champions:
“The only reason they came back was because of Taurean Green. Taurean couldn’t go. He wasn’t going to get drafted. Joakim Noah and Al Horford said, ‘No man left behind.’”
“They felt like if they all left, Taurean would be left there unable to realize his dream.”
Mike Miller: “Sacrifice is an easy word to say if you know what the outcome is going to be. If somebody says, ‘Sacrifice and you’ll win two championships,’ I’ll sacrifice all day. But what happens when we sacrifice and lose? Then you start thinking, ‘I sacrificed for what?’ It takes a special person to believe in the sacrifice when you don’t know what the outcome will be.”
“Sacrifice isn’t picking and choosing what you want to give up. It’s sacrificing what’s important to you.”
“You never know when it’s going to be your turn. You never know when it’s going to be your night to pass the ball or accept a role you don’t want. That role may not be who you’ll become four years from now.”

2. They pass from all over the court and not just one spot

James Johnson on the Miami HEAT’s strict conditioning standards and body fat requirements:
“I’m so F’d up that even if I look at the scale, I picture the Miami Heat locker room. They’re fining you, you’re losing bread because you’re eating.… But they hold you to a standard that even you didn’t know you were capable of.”
