#EarthDay2022: 100s of land defenders who gave our all to #StopLine3 now fight criminal charges in MN courts for protecting the drinking water of millions. @GovTimWalz: appoint @AGEllison to these cases. Some face years in jail.

286 million gallons of water spilled. $7.7 million paid to MN law enforcement by Enbridge, 30% went to militarizing the DNR. 5.5 billion gallons of water given to Enbridge by MN to bulldoze its tar sands pipeline thru our riverS. 28 spills of drilling fluid.
Who’s the criminal?
We stand with water protectors fighting the Line 3 pipeline, many of whom have been criminalized for their role in the movement. Today we're uplifting the words of Alisha from the so-called American Midwest, who's facing felony and misdemeanor charges.
This is her story. 🧵
Hello @Starbucks CEO @Kevin_Johnson. Coffee with a side of union-busting? Firing Memphis workers in retaliation for their efforts to join together in union? Restore their jobs immediately! I support their right to join together & have a voice on the job.

@Whisperofsepte1@TucsonRomero@Tucson_Police Many of our houseless community members are elders who can no longer work or afford rent and disabled folks who have been left to the wayside by our pitiful health care system. Maybe go out into your community and have conversations with your houseless neighbors and see the truth
@Whisperofsepte1@TucsonRomero@Tucson_Police What is costing us dearly is our super over inflated police and military budgets. This idea of "personal responsibility" is based in individualism which seeks to uphold capitalism, a system where many must live in chronic poverty so a few may profit.
@Whisperofsepte1@TucsonRomero@Tucson_Police When someone can't afford rent, can't afford food or other basic needs, the state should be addressing the problems that got them there. Be it predatory landlords or food deserts or unliveable wages. This issue is systemic, its a crisis.
As long as we continue to allow corporations to buy single family homes (by offering 50K over asking & paying all cash), then jacking up the rent - this will not end. Corps are putting people on the street and robbing middle class of the American Dream.

@Whisperofsepte1@TucsonRomero@Tucson_Police We shouldn't have to work our lives away so someone else gets rich. I pay my taxes and I want my community to benefit from that. Resources lead to a more stable economy. someone getting help to survive would be taking nothing directly from you,why is this your reaction?
@MattKenneth_B41 @TucsonRomero@Tucson_Police No thanks. We need less cops and more resources for the vulnerable communities police are paid to prey on.
@AshleyC73031750@TucsonRomero@Tucson_Police No they are not. They are bullies paid by the state to protect the capitalist structure. They provide no services for the community aside from a false sense of safety and are a terror to most.
@DaveW_in_tucson @TucsonRomero@Tucson_Police All they do is consume the microscopic amount of resources they NEED to live??? Um ok.
How about we use our tax dollars to solve issues our community instead of paying more for cops to harass people trying to survive or just ya know, sleep.
@TucsonRomero@TucsonRomero how can we get a proposal on the table for something like rent control? folks from California are coming in droves and are buying up rental property and hiking up prices. Without any restrictions for landlords, more people will be pushed onto the streets.
@TucsonRomero@TucsonRomero can we reallocate some of the heinously high police budget and house people instead? Do something to stop these inhumane sweeps and "clean-ups" of houseless encampments. I don't want my tax dollars used to pay police to harass my houseless neighbors.
