The California quail of your nightmares trying to build a better world, but assholes keep taking the bricks. Been here the whole time in varied forms. (she/her)
@rebirth615224@_nomadic_soul @Masoud1720651 You’re not really being “objective” and “unbiased” when you call it “the most precious experience in life”.
@harrisonbodrie@itslaylas There’s also a distinct and clear jail employee-to-LCSW pipeline that is very hard to ignore. You can quickly clock which LCSWs started as jail employees. They don’t go into social work because they genuinely want to do good. They just see it as the next step in their career.
@harrisonbodrie@itslaylas 🎯🎯🎯
High-acuity mental health (which I include corrections and youth homes in) consistently gets new clinicians who do not know what the fuck they are doing — and it’s intentional.
I know someone doing 5150 assessments who has failed the clinical exam 2x.
@s4x110@dervolkman@broadwaybabyto Here in California at least they’re using state funds for that. Because Medi-Cal is comprised of federal Medicaid funds + state Medi-Cal funds. Don’t like it? Don’t live here.
@dervolkman@broadwaybabyto@s4x110 California Medi-Cal is not funded by Medicare. It’s funded by Medicaid.
Medicare is for old people, Medicaid is for poor people. (Disabled people may have one or the other or both.)
@WIcentrist@SPESSMAN_@ChaosSupreme666@thosegrose Also, there was actually a huge push in academia to use he/she in place of “they” for a certain period. It was clunky as hell. I anecdotally see it sometimes in educators between ages 45-60. Educators prior to this used “they” when appropriate.
@FossilLocator@agraybee Good lord the comments under this are not it. 🤦♀️
Some people do have actual sensitivities to things you consider it weird to have a sensitivity to. Because bodies are weird and we actually do not know that much about them.
@ughfinewhatever This is an aspect of my post-COVID aphasia. I have always had a big vocabulary because I like precision but now I’m mixing up words and don’t catch it. It’s maddening.
@_celia_bedelia_ I love when they try to use eyebrows as an argument. 😂 When everyone was screeching about “DEI eyebrows” in gaming, I had to laugh because my natural brows are way thicker than any of the eyebrows they’re complaining about.
@blvvnt_mp3@latkedelrey This was just an example. It really could be anything, but generally it’s something stupid. If your doctor does not adhere to the contract, they have no legal obligation to pay.
@blvvnt_mp3@latkedelrey She has to bill using CPT codes for the type of appointment. In her contract with insurance, it lists all the codes and their reimbursement rates.
A 30 min appt is a different code than a 60 min appt, with different rates. But she may do 45 min appt that’s not covered.
@JamesEsses I just had a mandatory cultural sensitivity training yesterday and this was a focus. I don’t know if it’s ever happened, but I will say we truly have a population in my area that we need to understand how to work with and they were not covered *at all*.
@_redcoloratura_@genzalternative@elizabethbelsky There are moments to fight against ableism and there’s moments to shut up and listen to disabled voices. This is one of those moments to shut up and listen.
@_redcoloratura_@genzalternative@elizabethbelsky If your kid’s disabilities/chronic illnesses/immunocompromised state routinely means they are absolutely depleted by school, which in most instances is a daily thing, like 8a-3p, and schools are hard-pressed to grant exceptions to that attendance, it’s better for them to be home.
@anonstudentt @25Ilghters@banay_john I mean, I’ve known multiple people whose entire savings were wiped out when their spouses became chronically or terminally ill.
Also we live in a world where the median emergency savings is $600. Do you honestly think people can afford to save at this point?
@LarryBrundage@LauraMiers@umairh I gotta say, I’ve seen some weird delusional takes about the 1918 pandemic, but “mostly bacterial pneumonia from masking” is a new level. Good luck to you out there, cause yeesh. 😬
