Keffe D is trending because the ex gang boss has been found guilty of the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, after 30 years the rap messiah was killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas.

Apparently, 2pac and his crew assaulted Keffe D’s nephew, Orlando Anderson at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996.

That evening Keffe D, the then leader of South Side Compton Crips gang, supplied firearm and organized a retaliatory hit on Pac, according to prosecutors.

Keffe D was in the vehicle from which the shots were fired, although prosecutors did not say or prove that he was the gunman. While Tupac was in the passenger seat of a BMW driven by Death Row Records founder Marion "Suge" Knight.

The gunmen crossed them and opened fire hitting Tupac multiple times. He eventually died from his injuries 6-days later on September 13, 1996 at 25.

Prosecutors tendered Keffe D’s 2019 media appearances and recorded conversations, where he discussed his involvement in Pac’s killing. However, his defence argued that his statements had been exaggerated and did not amount to reliable evidence that he had planned the murder.

Duane "Keffe D" Davis is the first person to be convicted in connection with Tupac’s killing, after a 12-member jury returned the guilty verdict yesterday following a weeks-long trial, convicting the 63yo Davis Keffe D of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon.

Keffe D now faces a potential life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole as sentencing will take place at a later date.

2pac’s death became a major defining moment of Hip Hop and Rap music in America. After this, record labels changed their recruitment models and phased out the gangster genre, leading to the discovery of Eminem, 50 Cent and the likes.
