Those standing here in this photo with Abdulla Shahid are, from left to right:
Meghan and Prince Harry, the Duchess and Duke of Sussex; Mondli Gungubele, Minister in the Presidency of the Republic of South Africa; Maria Theofili, Permanent Representative of Greece to the United Nations; Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed; Abdulla Shahid, President of the seventy-sixth session of the United Nations General Assembly; Morissanda Kouyaté, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guinea; and Eric L. Adams, then Mayor of New York City.
As we celebrate 21 years of MDP in a few days, we must renew our commitment to the principles and values that brought us together. Our future cannot be defined by personalities.
We move forward carrying the lessons of our past, but not living in it.
My vote is for Meekail.

Experience in governance is essential for a state to run smoothly. Running a country is not the same as managing infrastructure projects by a Housing Minister or overseeing a single sector. A president must understand the economy, public administration, foreign relations, national security, and the day-to-day functioning of government.
When leadership is entrusted to someone whose experience is limited to a narrow portfolio, the entire country becomes a learning ground. The consequences of inexperience are felt by every citizen through poor decisions, wasted opportunities, and ineffective governance. A nation deserves leadership that has demonstrated the ability to govern, not merely manage one part of government.
