Thoughts also of course with all of Seán’s family and friends and the wonderful producers and researchers and sound engineers etc who worked on Arena down through the years. A fabulous group of people. A joy to work with.
Was on Arena many many times with Seán over the years. He was always so lovely and always set you at ease. Have many happy memories of doing the Classic Movie slot with him. And the chats before broadcast. And he’d always be game for (and go with) some of my more…niche ideas.
@FootballCliches@CDEccleshare@D_C_W Btw, the Niall Quinn (formerly of The Cranberries) you mentioned is best known for his band The Hitchers. Who once recorded this banger of a tribute to Gordon Strachan.

I sent an email to @davehendon about my experiences at, and impressions of, The Crucible (first ever visit). So, er, here it is. As read by Dave.

@Rod_Studd@davehendon Magical is the word. And it’s not just nostalgia talking. It is, from a *spectator’s* point of view, the ideal space for snooker. Great views no matter where you’re sitting. And the intimacy just makes everyone feel involved in, and a part of, the drama.
@philhaigh_ Hey Phil. Quick question. I have tickets for a few 2-table sessions at The Crucible. Is there any way of knowing which match will be on which side of the divide ahead of time? I know where I’m sitting (obvs) but would love to know which matches I’ll be seeing. Ta!
@JPierreCoyle An image I often dig out when one of my anxious friends starts worrying about how a sporting team we both support, who may be doing really well at the time, are suspected (by said friend) of being on the verge of disaster. Despite them just having won 4-1. Or something.
