A podcast about investing in the future with @kevinlum and @kadambloom. Not financial or legal advice. Entertainment purposes only. And possibly not even that.
Credibility with who? For what?
I live in America. We have pro wrestling, fast food, sugar drinks, the Republican Party, creationism theme parks, the state of Florida, monster trucks, poodle-mix dogs, online sports gambling, Etsy pants, country clubs, Las Vegas, booty apps, and many, many other irredeemable wastes of money.
If people want to buy a digital coin with a frog on it, who cares? What’s one more thing? If it makes them happy and it’s their money… go ahead.
It doesn’t ruin DeFi’s credibility. We can still be degen nerds. $PEPE can break out and the sun will still rise over our spreadsheets in the morning.
Everyone gets to do what they want with their money, as long as they don’t maliciously harm anyone else. That’s what gives DeFi and crypto credibility.
$ETH was up all day with only a slight dip following Shapella. Another silky upgrade for Ethereum with no post-fork dump. Nice.
Sounds like staked ETH from Coinbase and Lido will unlock gradually over the next few weeks/months.
And now the network is fully PoS.
Smooooth.
And now, the @nytimes#bitcoin article!
1. BTC mines use a lot of electricity. Knew that.
2. 85% of it comes from fossil fuels. Yuck!
3. No comparison to other industries.
4. No discussion of BTC’s potential social utility.
Overall – it’s a hit piece.

Tim Cook trying to move @Apple out of China is like Michael Corleone trying to move the family out of New York… “things could get rough with the move we’re trying…”

Reading @JasonPLowery’s Softwar.
Can’t think of another book that included so many of my nerderies – politics, govt, history, evolutionary bio, crypto, and constitutional law – so this is fun.
I don’t agree with all of this but I’m reading, doing the work.
Thoughts imminently.
I’ve had a bunch of friends describe AI as an Industrial Revolution-level event.
I think it could be… but have you actually used this stuff?
Here’s a story about how great AI is… and how great it isn’t… yet 🧵
The @MetaMask airdrop opportunity is interesting.
On the one hand, MM has been an essential Web3 tool for years. I don't even want to try to guess how many trillions of dollars of on-chain activity have flowed through it.
But that's also the downside...
I had an Uber driver in LA who told me he'd moved to town with a degree in cartoon illustration and was looking for a job.
But his college had trained him to draw for gallery shows. He had no idea how to monetize his work.
I asked what he knew about NFTs. He'd heard of them...
@coinbase announced an inflation-indexed stablecoin, but these have been around for a while.
Here's the @LinkedIn post I wrote about these last summer.

So, @greenpeaceusa makes a sculpture criticizing #bitcoin’s energy use, and Bitcoiners mock it for not using actual graphics cards as part of the sculpture. #Bitcoin has really bred its own kind of bitterly angry nerd.
