In Japan, tall wagon-type kei cars with sliding doors are popular. These cars are ideal for people with children or elderly parents, and where narrow roads are common, once you experience the convenience of these vehicles, other cars seem incredibly inconvenient.
BYD Racco, a Japan-exclusive electric kei car tailored for the local market, will officially launch in Japan on July 28, with an order target of 10,000 units by the end of 2026.
This marks BYD’s first model fully developed for a single overseas market, featuring right-hand drive, sliding rear doors, and a 20kWh LFP Blade Battery delivering 180km WLTC range.
