@Hoshnasi Yep, bought this little Tecsun PL-365 a few years ago from the bargain section at Radioworld for £40. It's small (6"x2"x¾") with an 18" telescopic whip, receives ssb as well as AM and has a 20ft wire antenna as well. I hear stuff from all over the world with it!

@JacquesGrare @JG0ktw Thanks for reposting Jacques' tweets, John...fascinating, now following!

[Simon Hargraves @G0CIQ]

...especially given that the test antenna was a Wonderloop 750 indoors! Looking forward to getting out in the wild with this super little rig!

What's in the box?...

The 20m Rooster 🐓 puts out around 1W, a quick test call on 14.060MHz produced two respectable RBN hits...

Several stages done and tested...

@YvarekhkhaYHWH @Hoshnasi Too many ties, though I'd love to visit the US some day...my wife and I have talked about it, bit it's not possible for the moment.

@Kc3Snr I haven't yet explored the crossband capability of my IC-32...I'll probably try it this week.

[Simon Hargraves @G0CIQ]

Thought I would give the 35 year old IC-32 a day out...repeater is GB3IH at Ipswich.

@Johnsontechword Some older handhelds you may still be able to find batteries for, I use an AA case with six Ni-mh cells, though I've seen some aftermarket batteries on line with higher voltage. I bought a Diamond dual band antenna with BNC fitment for this radio.

[Simon Hargraves @G0CIQ]

@GM2UWX I think only about a mile or so...when I've used it before, it's been pretty strong anywhere in the town.

[Simon Hargraves @G0CIQ]

@RadioHam432 This is another one of those "what happened to make them put up this sign" moments...

[Simon Hargraves @G0CIQ]

@riprap1 @G4ABX Somehow, the biscuit tin worked really well as a ground plane, I did the same!

[Simon Hargraves @G0CIQ]

@G0MFR It's the 145Alive event tomorrow, so I'll see if I can get on that after work.
