🤡 Cllr @DanWMcLean is masquerading as someone who listens to public opinion. But his record is far from it.
Earlier this year, McLean voted to drop a 16-story tower in the middle of a neighbourhood despite overwhelming community opposition.

@Grady_Booch I won’t pretend to know much about you but I do know who you are and I, like others, admire many of the things you’ve done. But the fact is that no one looks to IBM for the best and latest in AI anymore.
I’m not particularly optimistic about AGI but this argument makes no sense to me. We have already seen so many unexpected properties emerge from LLMs mostly just as a product of scaling, it’s not irrational to think this will just continue as we develop larger and larger models.
Shannon was a pretty imaginative guy but even he couldn’t have predicted where his work has led us. Given all this, who’s to say where language models will be in even a fraction of that time?
Technically, Shannon’s first models from 70+ years ago (!) use the same fundamental architecture as today’s yet no one would argue in good faith they’re the same thing.
I have been using ChatGPT 4 pretty extensively to help with the code I’m working on (I do have Copilot, I just find ChatGPT more helpful) and finally reached the usage cap yesterday. I switched to 3.5 and the difference is really striking. Went from awesome to nearly useless :/
