I successfully installed an NESRGB v4 in my toploader. It was a struggle there for a little bit because I had to replace my cpu. Good to have that one under my belt!
I'm playing around with #3Dprinting wall mounts for cartridges. I'm pretty happy with these angled mounts for nes carts. I did the math to get the perfect overlap to still see the entire label!

@PointerFunction ๐ฎOh no! I use 3m command strips for everything and have for years. Never had a problem, but using multiple on a single object does get tricky. I usually go with the 3m command velcro tabs for stuff like that.
@iFixRetro@collingall Did you run into any problems? I just did a v4 in a toploader and the nesrgb board won't boot. My only lead right now is updating the mcu firmware to 2.1.
I was so excited to pick up this non- working shining force 2 cart and get a chance to revive it. Narrowed it down to a broken trace. Quick repair and a new battery holder and I got myself the best strategy rpg for cheap!
All but one just needed a quick ipa swab. The last one needed an eraser on the pcb. Four of them have small nicks on the wires that I'll come back to. This makes me wonder how many of these perfectly fine controllers get thrown away.
I bought 17 genesis controllers across 3 lots. All cheap because they were listed as non-working. Every single one just needed its contacts cleaned. Now I have 17 very clean and very functional genesis controllers.
@PointerFunction I'm using dawn dish detergent right now, the blue stuff. I tried using diluted simple green, but I think it might've been a little too harsh, and the smell was getting to me. I'll still scrub some stuff with a toothbrush and soap after, but I've been happy with the results.
This n64 controller was in pretty good shape except this bit of gunk made the A button stick, so the original owner considered it broken. A quick clean and it's good as new!
I subscribe to the "never just let your kids win so they know it's real when they do" parenting style. Tonight, I introduced them to goldeneye on n64. ๐
