@zack_overflow I completely disagree with you. Book greatly improves the understanding of how high-load distributed systems work and how to design them. Most likely, the projects you are working on are not like this, so you will not be able to apply this knowledge in practice

How are artificial intelligence (AI) models being used for targeted persuasion, and what should we do?

Yonah Welker (@YonahWelker) recently shared an interesting report from the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence (@NATO).

Here's a summary of some key points:
🔹 AI and digital ads are being used for misinformation 🔹 AI detectors fail to consistently identify AI-generated content
🔹 AI is being used in political ads and misleading protest-related content

🔹 Even with limited data, AI can create powerful targeted messages
🔹 Platforms should adopt transparent policies on AI-generated content
🔹 Open-source AI tools require more regulatory attention due to potential misuse

I think that managing and reducing the negative impacts of AI persuasion and misinformation is very relevant to social, and behavioral, science researchers, and consultants. I wonder if inoculation and other techniques have been tested?
