I wanted to share a bunch of ideas the human-centered and trustworthy AI teams at IBM Research labs worldwide have been simmering and are now externalizing. I encourage topics that might not be hyped, but are nevertheless important and ones that researchers believe in. /1
We start with the human-centered question: what are the design principles for creating safe and effective generative AI applications, whether they are to help users explore new ideas or to streamline known processes. /2 https://t.co/gGH1zz8GuB
I kinda hate that responsible AI has come full circle to the uneducated yet highly opinionated pontificating on topics they know nothing about, including terminator, governance & geopolitical anything. Just because you can make AI doesn’t mean you know anything about implications
It’s fun and easy to talk about things you won’t be accountable for - like a technology that you claim is minimum decades away. Harder to say “let’s actually address todays problems in these systems” - you have to make trade offs and engage with real humans. Democracy is hard.
Looking for a new SOTA few-shot classifier?
We present QAID!
QAID uses batch contrastive learning with BERTScore &
classifies by retrieving the intent name.
SOTA on few-shot Intent Detection! 🎉

Label Sleuth is coming to @emnlpmeeting on Friday!🤖
after lawyers fell in love in it at #ELTACON and data scientists at @PyDataGlobal.
Easily label and build text classifiers in a few hours with no need for AI nor programming skills!

Let's congratulate and thank @XiangDeng1 from @hhsun1's @osunlp@OhioState for his contributions on few shot learning with "ReasonBERT" into PrimeQA. FSL with ReasonBERT gives significant boost over vanilla PLMs e.g. RoBERTa. Give it a shot today:

Excited to share that today was my first day as a User Researcher on the CIO Design Team at @IBM. I cannot wait to see what this new chapter has in store!
