Hungary's FM Szijjártó also had a great answer when asked about his country's relation with China, calling China "a huge chance and a huge opportunity" and revealing (which I didn't know) that actually the key reason why the Chinese invest in Hungary is "because of the Germans", i.e. to supply German companies that also have production facilities in Hungary.
This was also brilliant:
"Here again rationality is needed. We look at China, the cooperation with China as a chance, as an opportunity, as something that helps Hungary economy grow, as something that helps Hungarian economy to move to the next dimension, to be upgraded technologically speaking
And when I listen to those who say China is a threat, then I raise my question: don't those countries have secret services or something? Because we have our secret services, we have our national security structure and if this structure signals any threat or danger to us regarding some action, then we don't do that.
So what happens between us and China is absolutely, absolutely advantageous from the perspective of our national interest and national economy. What would not be in our national interest because of security reasons for example, then we would not do it. So I mean this is so simple from our perspective."
I really wish this type of rationality was more generalized in Europe instead of the mind-numbing "good vs evil" ideology that's so pervasive at the moment...
Quite extraordinary (and justified) rant by Hungary's foreign minister about sanctions on Russia, calling out the immense hypocrisy that's going on around them, and asking for "rationality" given the sanction regime didn't achieve its goals and hurt the EU more than Russia.

@benshapiro “He ended up becoming and underground fighter against the British”… talk about a euphemism for TERRORIST! The double standards are so evident… They love to cry out “terrorist” when someone resists them but they won’t think twice to do harm to others. It’s disgusting.
🇺🇸SHAHID BOLSEN:
"The United States, the UK, Germany, and France—these are some of the most oppressive and repressive governments in the world if you remove all of the self-praise and the propaganda that they spew about themselves and about freedom and civil rights and so on.
They are a Western axis against freedom, and if you don't know that—I mean, if you live there and you don't know that—then you just haven't tested it.
The only way that you can live in any of those countries—and increasingly in the US—and not know that they are despotic tyrannies, is if you have been so numbed and so brainwashed that you hold no opinion in your head that wasn't put there by the state, that wasn't injected into your lifeless brain by the mainstream media.
So, you never had anything to protest about.
You never questioned your government.
You never challenged the official narratives about anything.
That's the only way that you can't know what I'm talking about.
And that makes you even more repressed, more oppressed, and more tyrannized than the people who are getting beaten and who are getting detained for objecting to their government's brutality.
You're even more of a victim.
You're even more abused than those protesters who are getting clubbed upside the head and getting choked and getting abused by the security forces because your government, your rulers, your ruling class has never let you live a day in your life without telling you what to think and sabotaging your ability to think for yourself.
You're the most abused in your society.
What they did to you is worse than beating; it's worse than detention; it's worse than imprisonment.
At least those protesters who are getting beaten and arrested by the police—at least their minds are free, at least they have their own thoughts in their heads.
But you—your leaders have made you a zombie that thinks that the right thing, the moral thing, is whatever power chooses to do; your government has put you into a moral coma.
You're morally comatose.
They put you under an induced coma so that you can't see them sponsoring the wanton murder of 34,000 people, some 24,000 innocent women and children.
You can't see that there's anything wrong with that.
You feel nothing, or even worse, you think it's the right thing, you think it's the moral thing, you think that what your government is doing is good by sanctioning indiscriminate slaughter; you think that's fine.
Why?
They've robbed you of your very humanity, and that's the only reason that you can believe that you live in a free society.
That's the only reason that you can believe that you live in a society with civil rights and liberty and free speech and all of those other wonderful things that you never had and never will have.
The only freedom that you have in those countries is the freedom to agree with power.
You're free to submit to the powers that be."
I dare anyone intellectually honest to find a single lie in this UN speech by Iran. I personally couldn't.
By contrast you have countries like the US, UK, France and Germany calling their attack "unjustifiable and highly irresponsible" (in the German Chancellor's words), which relies on everyone forgetting it was made in retaliation to Israel bombing the Iranian consulate (meaning there was a strong legal justification for the strike), and relies on everyone not looking at the reality of an attack which only targeted military sites and didn't kill a single person (meaning it was responsible).
Thinking about it, maybe more than anything, this might have been one of the key reasons for the way Iran conducted its strike. A strike, yet another one, on Israel and the West's credibility, designed to expose the mental gymnastics needed to maintain their narrative. And the West, again, fell right into that trap.
War, at the end of the day, is a battle of wills. Military strength is almost secondary: as we've seen time and time again the side with the strongest commitment, the side that feels their cause is the most righteous, wins. This is why, for instance, Vietnam and Afghanistan both won against the US despite the gigantic differential in sheer strength.
And this is why more and more people, including extremely prominent voices in Israel itself, are starting to say that Israel has lost the war: because in the words of a famous Haaretz journalist who wrote that "Israel Has Been Defeated – a Total Defeat" (https://t.co/Is8R0Y5bZm) it's become "internationally ostracized", meaning the world at large has become convinced that the Palestinian side is the righteous one.
Iran's strike further advances this international ostracization. It makes anyone with basic common sense tell themselves "ok, that was actually... a very reasonable response" and makes those acting as if that response was disproportionate or unprovoked sound like liars at best, deranged lunatics at worst.
We often say we live in a post-truth world, which in many respects is true. But if all this demonstrates anything, it is that losing that commitment to truth has immense and very real security implications.
