@BradySnedden11 @CodyEdstein What a great resource Brady, thanks for sharing! My class are just starting to use canva now. Another ICT tool you could utilise is Kahoot, my students love this!
@jourdann___ I love this idea Jourdann, thanks for sharing! This will make a wonderful end of day activity to help me understand how each student is feeling.
@jacobannanUON This resource is very useful, thanks Jacob!
We need to provide people/children with healthy foods to ensure they live longer, healthier lives. This could be a homework task for your students?
@MissCheyaLee I believe it is important to incorporate the Aboriginal 8 ways of learning to help support indigenous students and further educate all students on this pedagogy.
At the beginning of my #educ4750 unit I will have my students participate in discussion about #SDG2 in the form on a 'yarning circle'. These circles are used as a learning tool to enrich and promote the shared knowledge of the students in the group (QCAA,2022). #UoNTeach
@jacobannanUON Thanks Jacob! I believe having visuals in the classroom will support all students' learning, it gives the classroom a pop of colour too! π
6G will be creating posters to promote awareness for #SDG2 & for the food drive we will be providing to donate to less fortunate people in hopes to eliminate hunger. These posters will be hung around the school & community to get as much exposure as possible. What an example!
@jacobannanUON It is important to have parent/community involvement during class projects, I believe it helps the students to feel more engaged and exciting about what they are doing.
@BritneyBaker21 We must achieve this goal Britney! This will be a powerful resource for your students. It is also great use of ICT in your classroom. Maybe I can suggest you create a WC mind map after this to show student understanding? π€
Wow! What a tremendous idea! My students will be creating posters to hang up around the school/community, but I never thought of creating digital ones! This will implement more ICT into my #educ4750 unit and give my students choice. #SDG2#UoNTeach
"Problem solving and critical thinking are not unique to the 21st century. However, they are transformed by technology..." (Kereluik et al., 2013). We must utilize ICT in the classroom to achieve #SDG12. E.g. Have your students create a digital poster. Scan below for more ideas!
@jacobannanUON What a great way to include parents/community Jacob. The students would feel empowered and in charge of something that matters. This is fantastic.
@BradySnedden11 This is a great idea Brady! It even links in with #SDG2, people need food to function and its devastating that some children aren't able to access enough..
@DanaHolz10 @WWF Thanks for sharing Dana! My students love Kahoot, what a way to incorporate ICT into the classroom. I will have to use it in my unit about #SDG2! π
@MissMBeer Wow Millie, it is so colourful too! This would be excellent and would also be relevant to #SDG2 as food waste is a massive part of why people are going hungry. Thanks for sharing!
@BenJurd Do you feel like you will be having a lot of whole class discussions during your unit Ben? I believe that they are a way to engage all students in conversation.
During my #educ4750 unit I will be having a WC discussion on ways we can help minimise food waste. Mind maps are a great way of brainstorming ideas with your students and I love using them in my classroom!
Let's achieve our goal! #SDG2#UoNTeach#fightagainsthunger
A very simple yet helpful tip. One of the main reasons why millions of people are hungry is because thousands of tons of food is being wasted worldwide. What can we do in schools to minimise help our waste? #SDG2#UoNTeach#educ4750
Picture books can help children gain a deeper understanding on particular topics, for example, the sustainable development goals. βMaddiβs Fridgeβ is a beautiful book that explores #SDG2 giving readers insight into poverty and how some people are less fortunate then others.
@BenJurd Great resource Ben! However some students aren't fortunate enough to come to school with enough food or with any healthy snacks... I believe if we have extra fruit on hand it will be beneficial to those students.
This is unfortunately correct. So, in my #educ4750 unit I will be working with parents/community to donate fruit to the school in hopes of giving every child a healthy snack at break times or for crunch & sip. The thoughts of starting a community garden are also in my mind. π€
Crunch & Sip programs have taken schools by storm! However, its important to remember that not all students will have access to fruit & veg at home. Providing access to fruits for students to eat during Crunch & Sip helps level the playing field and move towards #NoHunger. #SDG2
