One of Trump's senior energy advisors left her government position to work for an oil company to lead the very same project that she helped advance while working in government.

Brittany Kelm is the latest example of the revolving door phenomenon in US politics.

Kelm was directly involved in advancing federal policy initiatives that benefited Sable Offshore Corp. This included efforts surrounding the restart of their offshore oil operations and pipeline system off Santa Barbara, California which had been shut down after a major oil spill in 2015.

She publicly celebrated the project in LinkedIn posts while wearing Sable-branded gear during official tours. She recently stepped down and immediately took a job as the Vice President of Policy and Commercial at Sable Offshore Corp.

Consequential choices involving our country are being made by government officials who are plotting a highly lucrative career at the same private firms that benefit most from their time in government.

DC lobbying firms that are working FOR fossil fuel interests ALSO represent around 300 local governments that are seeking federal money for climate recovery, mitigation, or conservation.

Another 568 local governments have contracted these same pro-fossil fuel lobbying firms for other matters.

In case you're wondering why it's taking so long to see any climate justice, this is one reason why.

Americans are essentially funding our own opposition. We're bankrolling the very same influence machines that keep us bound to the fossil fuel industry.
