The elderly man you see there is supposed to have benefitted from the KSH 129 billion sent to Turkana County by citizens across Kenya.

KSH 129 billion.

Intended for services and development.

Development such as roads, water infrastructure, etc.

Much of the money sent there is consumed by those in goverment. This county is that has a poverty rate of 83%:

Can afford to spend KSH 289 million on a mansion for the Governor.

KSH 289 million. They have already spend KSH 135 million - three times the legal limit of KSH 45 million.

But the project has stalled - and the contractor is asking for an additional KSH 154 million.

The county can afford to spend KSH 623 million traversing the globe.

It can spend millions sending 168 people to Uganda for "a Karamoja cultural festival".

168 people.

It can send 55 people to "a peace accord" in Uganda.

In this county with a poverty rate of 83% - the government devoted KSH 9 million to bursaries.

What you just read is not a typo.

KSH 9 million.

KSH 623 million on travel.

KSH 9 million on bursaries.

Who do you think the government is serving?

I have said before that when the average citizen cannot discern any meaningful difference between his or her government and the thug on the street, that society has become a failed state. A banana republic.

Question: How do you think this man perceives his government?

Until this man is just as excited about seeing tomorrow as @charlruto is, we are not serious country.

The intellectual of this government is something to behold. It is nauseating to listen to this nonsense.

Here is the president saying that he will "talk to his friends" to see how they can, effectively, fundraise for a school development initiative.

Meaning - the very purpose of government.

That is his plan. Not to find money in government to invest in a school.

The plan is to ask his buddies to "chip in".

Never mind we are just about to become Singapore.

Juxtapose that with the following findings from my audit of National Government:

KSH 688 billion in Stalled Projects across the county, at the National Level.

KSH 36 billion in wasteful, avoidable, interest charges on bills that the government decides to pay only after billions accrue in interest.

KSH 59 billion in illegal contract variations.

KSH 231 billion in projects with no or questionable value for money.

KSH 2.5 trillion in MONEY OWED TO GOVERNMENT, but which government is too incompetent or unwilling to collect.

Do you see the incompetence in this government?

The cure for this illness is to assemble this entire confederacy of dunces into a corner.

And walk them out of our lives.

There is a conversation that some of us are afraid to have. And we must have it.

As someone who spends so much time chasing what politicians are doing with our finances, I can tell you this for free:

Perception and reality are often very different. Case in point this MP from Emurua Dikirr - may he rest in peace.

This article says he was a ‘passionate defender of his constituents’.

I don’t know whether that is true or not. But what I do know, is that, in 2023-2023, he could not account for, get this, KSH 52 million in ‘bursaries’ alone.

KSH 52 million. In bursaries. One one year alone.

That is not Bonnie Mwangi’s allegation. It is not innuendo or conjecture.

It is the Auditor General’s conclusion after reviewing the finances.

So - am not here attempting to besmirch the gentleman’s name - but I make a point of pointing out a phenomenon I see every single day.
