ALHAMDULILLAH: Nigerian Wins Prestigious International Qur’an Recitation Competition in Saudi Arabia

A Nigerian, Abdul-Raheem Mansur Isa Yelwa, has emerged victorious in a prestigious international Qur’an recitation competition held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Abdul-Raheem is from Bauchi State, and the son of Sheikh Professor Mansur Isa Yelwa, the Chief Imam of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Central Mosque, Yelwa Campus, Bauchi.

Allah has blessed Abdul-Raheem with exceptional Qur’anic recitation skills and a beautiful voice that touches the hearts of listeners.

His remarkable achievement has brought pride and honour to Nigeria in the Muslim world, particularly in the fields of Qur’an memorization and recitation.

May Allah continue to increase him in knowledge, wisdom, and sincerity, and may the Holy Qur’an be an intercessor for all of us on the Day of Judgment. 🤲📖🇳🇬

The Day of Arafah is unmatched in virtue. The Prophet says: “There is no day on which Allah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of Arafah. For those not on Hajj, fasting on this day expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year, as he ﷺ said, “I hope from Allah that fasting on the Day of Arafah will expiate the year before it and the year after it”. It is the day Allah perfected the religion with the verse, “This day I have perfected for you your religion”, and the best du’a is the du’a of Arafah: “La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah…”

I just want to imagine the reaction that would follow if, tomorrow, our northern institutions woke up and announced that any woman in a miniskirt, dressed half-naked, or without a hijab would not be allowed to write JAMB, WAEC, or NECO.

The national meltdown it would spark would be crazy.

But Muslim women in the South are not allowed to write JAMB because they are wearing the hijab, and these hypocrites are silent about it.

• If 10 of us can drop 25million each that’s 250 million

• If 100 of us can drop 5/10 million each that’s 500 million/ 1 Billion

We can start with this, with proper policy documentation (I scribbled a few for years now). Once the money is paid back we recycle, fund more businesses and keep the cycle going. Every successful business gives birth to another.

This is a respectful observation following the announcement of February 20th and March 6th, 2027, as the date for the next Presidential and National Assembly and Governorship and State Assembly elections respectively. The proposed dates fall within the holy month of Ramadan, a period during which many Muslims devote significant time to fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection.

If the intention is to encourage full and inclusive participation in the electoral process, scheduling such a critical national exercise during Ramadan may present challenges for a large segment of the population. Many Muslims tend to reduce engagement in demanding worldly activities during this period in order to focus on religious obligations.

Given the significant Muslim population in this country, it may be worthwhile to reconsider the timing to ensure broader participation and convenience for all citizens.

I do hope this observation will be taken in the spirit of inclusiveness and national cohesion.
