In a way, American elite liberals became LESS xenophilic and far more explicitly pro-America in the post-Pandemic environment than they’ve been since 2008. The Russian war on Ukraine elevated their collective opinion on the US to levels unseen since 9/11 hysteria.
"Just legalize sports betting, who cares" was one of the most wrong opinions I've ever had. We need a draconian snapback where it becomes something you can exclusively do in-person in Vegas and maybe at a racetrack in Atlantic City.
the reason this guy is in holding and not just getting a ticket is almost certainly because he has many unpaid tickets already
it’s $3, man. you live in a society. pay your fare
Me, on a hot long run: "I am a coward. A baby among adults. I wasn't cut out for this."
Same run, but dew point drops: "I eat nails for breakfast. I strike fear in the hearts of men. I was born for this."
came out to my 57 year old trt demon powerlifter gym bro, told him my lifts were going down & im super tired all the time & bro says "yeah and theres retards in the world who think people do this to get into womens restrooms"
The experience of a scheduled bus not showing up and leaving you stranded and confused is basically enough to turn someone off the entire concept of transit for life
Reliability and frequency needs to come first. The Uber always shows up.
My cousin is 29 years old and no longer sees a long term future in SWE, so he recently made a hard switch to the electrician path.
He didn't even get laid off, he actually *quit* his six figure SWE job to do this...
His reasoning is that by having the balls to be decisive and pull the trigger on this now, he will have his foot in the door and be post-apprenticeship well before the true "flood" arrives in ~1-2 years—when reality sets in for the remaining SWEs, and triggers a mad dash to the trades.
Time will tell if he's a ballsy genius or made the worst decision of his life lol.
One thing he says he already misses is being around *generally* smart people. When you work white collar you take for granted how the average person you work with, even if they're not a genius, are at least curious about the world and conversational on interesting topics. Says a lot of people in the lower rungs of the trades (where he is now) are, to be blunt, lowlife retards. Hopefully this improves as he continues his path.
the housing market is sending an extremely subtle signal called "THE RENT IS THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS" and local government is responding by commissioning a six year study to determine whether residents desire additional housing supply.
There is nothing magical about "local government" and in fact local government is often the worst government.
Making improvements very often involves local government being overridden or consoldiated by a higher authority.
