Argentina just made a deal with the US-controlled IMF for a loan to... pay back another loan to the IMF.

The IMF is the master of imperial debt traps.

When Argentina was ruled by right-wing oligarch President Macri, the Trump admin ordered the IMF to give him the biggest loan in history ($57 billion). Trump was trying to influence Argentina's 2019 election to help the right.

Despite the US meddling, Macri lost, and the center-left won. But the new government was stuck with unpayable IMF debt, which has devastated Argentina's economy and fueled hyper-inflation.
