Thank you for taking the time to respond, so I will take the time to answer.
The marriages you describe with the two 14 year olds were actually sealings. In their words "for eternity alone". We have a concept of sealing families together that is foreign to other religions. I'm in the camp that Joseph had no sexual relations with the 14 year olds, and there is no evidence that he did. There is evidence that he had sexual relations with some of the the other older wives, but not these two. 16 year old marriages were common. 14 year old was less common, but did happen. British common law had 12 years as the cut off. What I wouldn't say is, Joseph was a pedophile. That is intellectually dishonest. According to scholars, the mother of Jesus was most likely betrothed to Joseph between 12-15, as was the custom. I don't hear anyone making the claim that all Jewish marriages were guilty of pedophilia. But that's a separate argument, I grant that.
Next, you say there is zero archeological evidence to prove the Book of Mormon claims. There is no archeological proof per se, but there is evidence. Nahom is very interesting archeological evidence on the Arabian peninsula that I believe to be solid. Why would Joseph Smith create possibilities for mistakes if he fabricated the BoM? He could have just left out the claim of Nahom. Also, there is documented findings that meet the description for a place called bountiful which was due east of Nahom. Discovered in Yemen today.
The cement was discovered in South America 8 years before the BoM was published. I suppose Joseph could have gotten wind of it, but I doubt it. I think the cement thing corroborates, not weakens the BoM.
With the grains. You are overstating the text. It does not say that those grains were specifically brought over. It only mentions that "seeds" were brought. It doesn't say what those specific seeds were. So if you have a verse to share to prove your point I would appreciate it. Barley and corn have been found. Wheat not yet, I will concede that.
There is no DNA evidence. But there are possibilities to explain it.
The rest has been archeologically discovered. So not sure what you mean. If you are looking for a stone that says, "Hi, I'm a nephite". No we haven't found that yet.
There are many "anachronism" claims from Joseph Smith's day, that have now been corroborated. Dozens. So, you may not believe he was a prophet, but something special occurred with Joseph Smith that is worth investigating.
All of this, however, is not why I believe the BoM. Ultimately, it comes down to faith. You have faith Moses existed, even though there is no archeological proof (or evidence) for his existence or anyone before him really. There is no proof that the spiritual events in the OT or NT occurred. It comes down to living the teachings and learning for yourself.
@needGod_net That’s not how Christ defines a Christian lol
Also, I guess that means that commandments or laws are just “encouragements”. Doesn’t matter if you do them. You don’t even get a handshake or a smile.
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6
@SamuelMelton5@MendamCaedo Which Bible? The one with 66 books, or the 73 books, or 76, 77, 81, or 84? You have no justification for why you read the Bible you have.
@SamuelMelton5@MendamCaedo That’s not pedophilia. It requires prebuscent children. British common law had legal marriage down to 12 years old. Joseph was not a pedophile. You are committing a logical fallacy.
I’m gonna be honest. I don’t even know Jeff lol. I was making the point to call out lies based on OP saying we should just be nice and not call exmos liars. Now maybe Jacob believes Jeff is actually an exmo or that exmos promoted Jeff, idk. I don’t know what he meant. I can’t say he is wrong at this point. I’d have to look into it.
