I teach postgraduate courses on Somali history, society, and politics. I deliberately conduct oral examinations because I want to measure understanding, not memorization. These are graduates of different universities and working in different sectors. the very people who will become our future leaders, policymakers, educators, and professionals.
Yet, time and again, I leave the examination room with a heavy heart. I am deeply saddened by how little many of our brightest graduates know about Somalia's history, politics, and society. How can we rebuild a nation if those entrusted with its future do not fully understand its past? How can we solve today's problems without knowing how they came to be?
This is not a failure of our students; it is a wake-up call for all of us. The Ministry of Education, our schools, and our universities must urgently rethink what we teach and how we teach it. Somalia needs a curriculum that produces informed citizens, critical thinkers, and responsible leaders—young men and women who know their country, cherish its heritage, understand its challenges, and are prepared to build a better future. A nation that forgets itself cannot lead itself. The time to act is now.
@omar_adami Congratulations to your excellency achievements. Much appreciated for your endless efforts and I believe this will contribute bright future of our country and people. You Omar once again.
Apply this to every element of our life. First is easy and usual. Second, here you're dealing with an event which you never anticipated to happen. The third is how you managed to get out of this situation. And this is the most important part. Think&think before you make a move
A day before Kenyan foreign minister landed in #Mogadishu for a meeting with the Somali PM @MohamedHRoble, Prez @M_Farmaajo whose termed ended on February 2021 issued a presidential decree saying no official can sign any agreement locally or internationally.

What @M_Farmaajo seems to forget is that the armed forces have only gone underground, ending visible presence in #Mogadishu & are ready for the worst case scenario.
If Farmaajo chooses to derail the 20th May discussions, then he will be countered with equal measures.
Waa ayaan darro in madaxdii dalku ay u baahdaan taageerada iyo kor-joogteynta beesha caalamka si ay uga heshiiyaan arrimo aad u fudud oo ay hal maalin ku dhameysan karaan - hirgelinta heshiiskii Sep 17. Guul ayaan u rajeynayaa shirka Dhuusamareeb. Beesha 6aad way mahadsan tahay.
I condemn the acts of suppressing the voice of the ppl of Hiiraan. I call on AMISOM & Ethiopian forces to refrain from using force to advance President Farmajo's personal interests.
Opening fire on peaceful protesters is a crime that has become the norm during Farmajo's rule.
This is one of the NISA agents who fired at youths who were protesting today. President Farmajo and his NISA director are against peaceful protests, so, how is it wrong to defend yourself against them?
@EU_in_Somalia@NBerlangaEU@MohamedMHaji @adjurfeldt I believe EU play an important role youth unemployment in Somalia but to help entire youth in the country is impossible. Therefore, skilled leaders of Somalia with good empathy is required.
A building has collapsed in Hamarweyne, Mogadishu’s old town last night. One person was killed, 16 rescued. The district is home to buildings hundreds of years old, some landmarks were built 1,000+yrs ago. These builds need inspection from civil engineers to check safety.
