That’s Zzap! magazine’s verdict on Sonic Boom, scoring it only 58% for the Commodore Amiga game released by Activision in 1990.

You pilot a super-powered jet fighter called “Sonic Boom” through six intense levels packed with enemy planes, tanks, gunboats, and massive end-of-level bosses.

Collect power-ups to upgrade your speed, firepower, and devastating special weapons (like the screen-clearing mega-bomb). It’s classic 80s arcade shmup action with that satisfying “one more go” feel.

The Amiga version looks and plays great for its time: smooth scrolling, decent sound, and faithful to the coin-op.

It’s a fun, straightforward blaster that holds up surprisingly well today.
