A 26-year-old in Tiruchy earns Rs.16,000 a month but spends nearly Rs.1,000 a day on drugs, including Rs.700 on Tapentadol a glimpse into how opioid dependence is draining young lives and finances. MGMGH has treated 30+ opioid-related patients this year, with doctors flagging injecting, polysubstance use and Hepatitis C linked to syringe-sharing. Police have seized 34,000 + Tapentadol tablets since June.
