@yiningkarlli Even if a human puts in significant effort to differentiate themselves from AI art, it is only a matter of time before it gobbles up that work and starts posting derivative work into the market. How can a human stay motivated financially and artistically in such an environment?
@yiningkarlli If machine generated art takes over mass production (perhaps films and animations) only enthusiasts will prefer to watch the meticulously hand crafted work. The cheap machine generated art wins the financial game in the end.
@SebAaltonen Last question: Your wish to avoid vendor hw bug workarounds made me think if it is worth the time to develop a compute only GPU API for graphics. It wouldn't be faster than Vulkan. Are there any attempts in this direction at least for educational purposes?
@SebAaltonen Thanks, you clarified that it's a GPU API in the other posts. Does your custom API also have a custom compiler for the shaders? If yes, how are you managing different target hardware? LLVM?
Interested in learning about differential geometry and its connection to geometric computing?
All material from the @CarnegieMellon course on #DiscreteDifferentialGeometry has been collected in a new webpage (videos, code, exercises, etc.). Check it out!

Reviving my "pioneering old papers that no one reads series".
"Vector Regression Functions for Texture Compression" from Song et al. published in 2015 pioneered the idea of compressing an image (or vector graphics) using a coordinate neural networks.

That said, Game Physics in One Weekend by @ghodges_dev is exactly what I've been looking for! It's been an incredible resource and is filling in a lot of the blanks I've struggled to reason thru (mostly contact resolving)

Johannes Hanika has posted the notes for this year's SIGGRAPH Path Tracing in Production course. This year's course consists entirely of Avatar stuff, which as you'd expect from Weta, means the fanciest advanced light transport devised by mankind to date:

Google opening up all of their 3D Google Earth data as GLFT 3D tiles is super unexpected but super cool.
