@VanPoliMorphus I don't care if you personally change your view on the suitability of dividing the existing park road between cars and cyclists.
Repeating a claim on the sentiment of a particular group (avid cyclists) towards the lane just seems specious.
@VanPoliMorphus From my reading of comments on recent posts, either the sentiment has changed to be more positive regarding the lane or your summary of past sentiment as negative was incorrect.
The presence of 'activists' also seemed pretty sparse.
That seems worth investigating.
@VanPoliMorphus You made a qualitative assessment of the sentiment you perceived among cyclists on Reddit at some point in the past.
I scanned through recent relevant posts to reassess my recollection (since it was different than yours), and found a distinctly lane-supportive sentiment π€·
@VanPoliMorphus okay, the context of those two things matters - and other sources are telling materially opposing somethings.
I hope you'll update your assessment with an objective review of the quality and relevance of data for both perspectives.
@VanPoliMorphus and as I recall, public feedback (both written and in person) for the actual vote on removing the lane was mostly in support of keeping and improving it.
If so many were opposed, that seems like the most significant venue to make themselves heard
@VanPoliMorphus Timing of the petition is also important for assessing broader public sentiment regarding the initial lane restrictions in 2020, versus the changed implementation 2021 - 2023
@VanPoliMorphus@VisionZeroYVR I would summarize the sentiment of comments on recent posts regarding the lane in r/vancouvercycling (which I infer is weighted more towards sport cyclists) as predominantly critical of the lane's removal
@VanPoliMorphus@VisionZeroYVR Do you have any more concrete qualification for "most" than "lots of cyclists on Reddit"?
Many posts and comments on r/vancouver and r/vancouvercycling were supportive of the lane and critical of its removal.
Stanley Park mobility study is out. Removal of bike lane resulted in: way more speeding, no extra parking revenue (so much for the argument that the lane was removing parking access), fewer people cycling, more crowding on the seawall.
Surprising NO ONE (1/3)
@IanColdwater Though it's reasonably likely I would mix up labelling New Brunswick and Nova Scotia on a map, memorizing 12 (now 13) regions was just repetition.
I might only get 60% trying to name capital cities.
@helenlw_ I've been getting glitches where a tweet will show a reply or quote count but they don't load. Some replies are visible if I go directly to the person's profile, but not from the original tweet.
An icon should show on a tweet with any hidden replies that takes you to view them.
@SajKarsan Only a small area is within 800m of a Broadway station that would allow 8 stories.
The provincial SSMU policy might not apply to Shaughnessy's special zoning (and would only allow 4 units per lot - I'm not sure much is on a frequent transit routes that would allow 6)
