We're a group of volunteers with no budget, and it's getting harder to justify staying active on X. Come join us where the skies are bluer!
On Tuesday June 2, council will vote on the new Vision Zero Safe Mobility Plan. This plan is GREAT. But we don't know if it will pass and we need your help! Please take a minute to email council & sign up to speak if you're able:

@jodyvance Sorry for getting your name wrong Jody, honest mistake.
No whataboutism though, we're directly addressing your concern. It seems we want the same thing - cyclists off the sidewalk. What helps with that is protected lanes, which don't exist in the area.
@jodyvance Arbutus Greenway is north-south, that's a different direction FYI.
The other two are not "separated bike lanes" like your post mentioned.
We don't like people riding on sidewalks. The solution is protected bike lanes. Those don't exist in the area.
Are cars getting too big? Is there any reason for it? We crashed the Vancouver Auto Show to try and talk to some automotive reps and find out first hand!

The six blocks of E Hastings St between Abbot and Carrall is the most dangerous area for pedestrians in all of BC. Fifteen years ago the city reduced the speed limit, but on the ground not much has changed. It's time for a major redesign:

@LedgerLomasM@christineeboyle@MikeKlassen It runs past a school and a very busy beach. The sidewalks are so narrow. It should be made safer but ABC decided that "zero means zero"
In 2023 @christineeboyle had a motion to lower the speed on Cornwall to 30km/h. @MikeKlassen amended it to 40km/h, under the guise of an umbrella of safety improvements which he bragged about.
Now, council is recommending no further action. All we got was a deadlier speed.
A person caught excessively speeding and facing basically zero consequences kept speeding? "Go figure" indeed!
(And why is 90 in a 50 not excessive??)
This is what we mean when we say road violence is predictable and preventable.
Here's one you don't see often...this driver stopped on Knight Street at 7:36 a.m. doing 90 in a 50 zone. Not enough for excessive speed, so ticketed and allowed to continue to child's sport activity. But, 12 mins later, stopped again for doing 81 on Terminal Ave. by different Enforcement member. Go figure! #WeAreOutThere #SpeedMaims
Twelve pedestrians were killed in Vancouver in 2025, almost double the number from 2024. You and your party are failing at your most important job - keeping Vancouverites safe.
As we look back at 2025, Vancouver has a lot to be proud of.
Our city is on the right track and thanks to the ABC majority on Council, we've seen significant progress made over the last year:
✅ Falling crime rates across the board with the City seeing its lowest violent crime rate in 23 years.
✅ Approval of a zero percent property tax increase with a renewed focus on core services.
✅ Significantly reduced wait times for permitting and approvals, helping deliver more homes, faster.
We're proud to be delivering a City Hall that is efficient, effective, and focused on the issues that matter most for Vancouverites.
As we look to the year ahead, our focus will continue to be on finding ways to make Vancouver a safer, more affordable, and more vibrant place to call home.
On behalf of our whole team at City Hall, thank you for an incredibly successful 2025 and we look forward to an even better 2026!

This is the 12th pedestrian fatality in Vancouver - that we're aware of - in 2025. (23 total when including Lapu Lapu). Last year "only" saw 7 pedestrian fatalities. The city is moving backwards on this and mayor @kensimcity is MIA.

🚨The deadline to write in to council and/or sign up to speak on @Lucyincanada's No Right on Red motion is TODAY at 5PM! This is a critically important one. Please take a moment out of your day to do so:

We worked with Clr Maloney on a motion coming to council on December 10 to ban right turns on red at high-risk intersections. This is a low-cost, common-sense measure that will save lives. We need your help to tell council this matters!
