This year strawberry guavas (psidium cattleyanum) has been one winner from the hot dry weather. It flowered and set fruits continuously till early September and we have been harvesting since early August. The fruits are extra sweet and fragrant compared to previous years

After many years of perennial growth my Jamaican ginger choose this one to finally flower. The upside of the weather

This year I have increased my foraging forays and right now it's all about edible fungi. Polypores. Wild oysters and fieldcaps have been extra prolific even in our very urban forest

Perrenial tropical ginger the ones in the insulated tunnel is always faster than the ones in the insulated garden box. They will soon catch up and give a great stem harvest in the interim

Thank you @Rhizowen the crop is massive. Only issue is that our nearby melons and Okras failed. Grew fine elsewhere. Rodents hate the fruit

@Rhizowen What surprised me was how hardy the gourds were. We let it vine outside and didn't harvest them until recently after several frosts. They have been ripening happily some while outdoors

@Rhizowen We grew 2 outdoor, one in the ground decent tubers but no flowers, the one in the raised bed is a smaller version of this one and gave about a dozen gourds less seeds and not all viable. I shall persist with outdoor planting in different locations and conditions.

@Rhizowen I love the idea of this getting better known. I hate turnips but I don't mind the flavour in this root. Also dried as a flour it really add a lovely flavour

@Rhizowen So true. I was disappointed with the gourds last year so planted them in several locations this year. 2 produced viable looking seeds but this one had hundreds of good sized tubers not dozens like the other one

My low tech mushroom journey continues. 2 blocks different substrates same spores, started together. Left block on 3rd flush. Right first fruiting but twice as productive as first flush from left block.
