This year I want to start using new software. I recently started using Canva for graphics and today I began using Wix for website design. What other software do you all recommend? Maybe we can start a thread of software that we can all use? #tcidul
Im in the middle of my thesis and no where near done but im finally starting starting to understand my data. I find myself actually making interpretations. Its nice to see the thesis finally come together.
Today I presented the preliminary findings of my thesis at a conference and the response was positive. It has really given the encouragement to keep going with my thesis. I have a new energy for the thesis now.
@garethmpb Happy to help! I also highly recommend getting involved with different writing communities, attending online meet ups, virtual conferences, etc. I'm on the @writethedocs slack and there's always something going on and a lot you can learn from other writers. 👍
@ShellyW_UL@writethedocs Oh thank you for pointing me towards that community. I feel like I know very little about the technical writing and instructional design community. I would love to meet more tech writers and learn more about the professional world :)
As technical writers, we need to keep our writing up to a high standard. To keep up my writing, I have my blog (which will be rebooted soon) and I try to get my personal essays published. I find reading to expand my vocabulary helpful too. Anything else that I should be doing?
@9031626Moroney Both assignments are great for learning. The blog helps me digest what I have learned and this Twitter account helps learn more. It is a great combination.
@ShellyW_UL@GoogleOSS I have heard of open source projects but I never knew where to find them so thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction #tcidul
One of the biggest realisations regarding language for me was that Hibernio English is not standard English. I find it hard to notice when I use Hibernio English in documentation. Does anyone else have that issue? #tcidul
I found this inforgraphic on LinkedIn about instructional design. It breaks down the elements of instructional design like the periodic table. It is such an innovative way of linking disciplines #tcidul

Next week I have to hand in three assignments, hand in an essay for consideration for publication, do more work on my new magazine, and try and do more work on the preliminary research. Im about to break the record on most coffee drank in a week.
I got sent this interesting article on becoming a technical writer at @Google. It is nice when new career paths reveal themselves #tcidul.
