There’s a girl I went to school with who was stuck up and held her head high because she lived in the hills and came from a wealthy family, her mom is working as a dishwasher now. A family from church I knew who cut off another church family because their daughter had a child out of wedlock and that was a “bad example”, their sons are gay and trans now. A woman from the church who scoffed at the other church women going through divorces, her husband cheated on her. Husbands and wives who prided themselves for their healthy marriages that eventually lead to divorce. Parents who prided themselves for having accomplished children only for them to turn to drug addiction. People who once had everything and then had nothing. I, myself, have been caught in this trap one too many times - thinking I was too good to ever turn out like some of those “other people” only to end up in positions far worse. It’s so easy to feel above it all when you have it all but who are you when you have nothing? Never ever ever think it can’t be you.
