Here's two 2.4 mile (3.8 km) bus journeys at 5:30pm.
Left is in Chicago and takes 20 minutes.
Right is in Amsterdam and takes 14 minutes.
The Chicago one takes 43% longer.
Here's the four reasons why 🧵
Travyon Martin was an unarmed 17-year-old kid. He was killed carrying a bag of skittles. The right-wing called him a threat.
Kyle Rittenhouse was 17 years old and armed. He shot and killed 2 people with an AR-15. The right-wing calls him a hero.
Story time: Apparently when I was 4, while watching Batman Returns, I told my folks I wanted to grow up to be Catwoman. I want to clarify: I meant this one, specifically.
Don’t think most of us are even fully aware of how dire the situation is not just in big cities, but virtually every American city. Gentrification does not happen by accident. This is a policy decision. This is coordinated. This👇🏽is the goal, even if the weapon isn’t a bulldozer.
There is less than half of the sidewalk space there used to be. This was never about “accessible” spaces. This was about hiding a serious problem the city has and refuses to address properly. Instead people are being punished for experiencing homelessness.
This is embarrassing. Our legislators are so digitally illiterate that they don't even understand that crack downs on finstas would mean *less* privacy for users.
