Great to see Flood yesterday and give him a copy of the book on distortion in music production. A big thanks to both he and Alan Moulder for their excellent insights which contributed to my own chapter on understanding the semantics of distortion.
‘It would be lovely to talk about a subject that is very close to my heart/ears/soul. I think it would be great for Alan and I to do it together as we have different methods, but similar taste/perception/application of one of the most misunderstood tools in the sonic palette...

Work with professional mix engineers and you’ll get closer to what I hope are assistive tools which facilitate more creativity! Just my $0.05!
@csteinmetz1 The weakness is still in the data systems are trained on Chris. Too many music production students and self reporting experts who in many cases know very little about music production IMHO! Mixing is not predominantly technical it’s mostly about feel, emotion and creativity. 1/2
@phardingmusic A pleasure to have mixed the new Atmos version of this song for London Records. Many thanks to Phil Harding for artistic guidance and Neil Pickles for technical advice and ideas. I had to match Phil’s original mix to create stems which was no small thing!
