Dude just threw 3 scoreless innings in relief.

Lots to unpack here, in terms of the amount of skill that was on display today, especially for a Freshman.

First, he's a Freshman from Kerrville. While Kerrville isn't very close to DFW, it's still in the State of Texas, so pitching at Globe Life had to be a super cool experience.

So, the performance...
Dude showed a ton of skill throwing a right-turning fastball (assuming a 2-seam), a bullet-shaped slider/cutter, a slider with more depth, and got swing and miss against great hitters with "ride and run" at the top of the zone with his fastball.

That's sequencing and pitch shaping that has become very popular in professional baseball again because the tight lateral movements are super effective against all of the upper-planed vertical swings of today's game.

The way he shapes his pitches, the fact that his turns are so tight, and his "lack of fear" climbing back into counts, were super impressive. Way, Way above his years! That was fun! #GoPokes #OkState
