#Longevity Enthusiast age 79 - maybe simply luck but zero history of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, neurological decline, high cholesterol/BP. Hiker&Runner.
I have spent over 4 decades with an exercise regimen specifically geared towards getting my cholesterol and triglycerides as low as possible. My recent bloodwork had my trig/HDL at .81 with total at 158. Not bad for 79 years old who takes no meds and has no health history. In my longevity journey I do what works for me not what some influencer on X pontificates.
@ashleyschendel I live 30 minutes away in south central KY. I agree with you in that TN has all sorts of state parks scattered throughout the state each with its own unique beauty. Love the Virgin Falls area. However my favorite area for hiking in TN is around Johnson City.
Bob Gibson way, way, too high. I know you like views. You need a separate thread on Bob Gibson vs Feller or Ryan or even some of the lefties like Koufax. I will fully admit he had the most dominant season of any pitcher in the modern era. But career wise led the league but once, I repeat once, in ERA and Ks. Not as much black ink as most of the other greats.
@Ampersand48 I knew there was something I liked about you. On the ballot for Governor of Idaho as a Libertarian. My favorite Libertarian lives 30 miles down the road from me and none other than Senator Rand Paul.
@OleTimeHardball When I mentioned Ted Williams as #2 should have qualified that as the Ted Williams that never had to miss almost five years of his prime serving our country.
@Phantasma819331@its_The_Dr A popular internet myth. The actor who looked like Kramer (Michael Richards) was David Kristin. He was uncredited in his appearance in Terminator.
@drjamesdinic Will be 80 next year and sort of agree. I have built my life since the late 70s around cardio. Strength training is needed but overrated compared to cardio.
@CoachFHM I turn 80 next year. Life is almost better than ever. That is because of the choices I made in my 30s. Unfortunately can’t say that for many of my friends.
@KurtSupeCPA Probably good advice. But at some point in our longevity journey like around 80, does it really matter. If you are more than financially well off just be done with it - pay cash.
It is real humorous listening to young people pontificate on aging who haven’t a clue. At 79 I am not in that supposed 80% who have some chronic disease. I did it primarily by consistent exercise since the late 1970s and a few select supplements. Nothing fancy. How hard is that.
Think this is a generational thing when it comes to Bonds. He is by far my least favorite athlete on the list. OJ my least favorite human being. Some mentioned Draymond Green - good call there. LeBron? Can’t wait til he retires. How about that nut case of a wide receiver who played for the Steelers and then retired mid game walking off the field while playing for the Bucs.
@OleTimeHardball Not speaking statistically or analytically…..but being that Sandy Koufax is my favorite pitcher of all time I would go with my favorite hitter of all time - Ted Williams.
