We think the fast migrations (~1-10 km/hr) are too fast to be the actual gas/magma moving in the system: they must be evidence of fast pressure transients transients in the fluid, resulting from the very dynamic permeability of the magmatic system.
🐋 THIS IS NOT A FLUKE 🐋 Humpback whales are singing RIGHT NOW in the Monterey Bay, listen in on @MBARI_News's hydrophone feed!! https://t.co/VCvI0d4tzO

maybe not the best format to share notebooks... copy/paste the raw texts into correct filenames, and it should run though! Either with fake or real data.
🚨🥁Preprint alert! @EarthArXiv
https://t.co/P9UsT2U8jj
It’s about how fluids move within deep fault zones, and how it could generate patterns of seismicity that look a lot like tremor swarms 💦✨
Read on for more on our little model and its implications… 1/9
@CompellingN@matplotlib Notebooks for a few of these should feature in the documentation of the python package for the model (which I'm still writing...), but I can quicly format a specific one if you PM me which!
More details the preprint @EarthArXiv ! If you feel like it, constructive comments are GREATLY appreciated!
(and all the ❤️ goes to @matplotlib for allowing me to satisfy all my graphical obsessions)
To sum up, we propose a mechanism for elementary permeability variations in a fault zone, caused by the ambient fluid pressure and linked to tremor generation. We find that fluid flux controls the seismicity and that this system draws tremor-like patterns. 9/9
