Thanks so much to everyone who came to our Gather-ing on Tuesday, particularly to our speakers and our hosts. We have received some valuable feedback so far, to make our next event on March 17th even better. Details of our online community available soon.
Key themes for me reflecting back on changes in the #tech scene in #Cambridge over the last 10 years are:
🟡 Bigger investment rounds: the East saw the highest increase in capital across the UK between 2015 - 2018 at 206% and had £583m invested into tech companies in the region💰
Great to be on the panel @gathercambridge's first event @WeWorkUK in #Cambridge - such an important discussion to be had around Cambridge for the 2020s. Think it is super important to question the impact of this growth and whether it is really sustainable over the next ten years?
Thanks to everyone for coming to our first Gather-ing! Inspiring, interesting, and innovative. Full of pizza and pastry, too! Cannot wait to release the details for the next event. #cambridgeforthe2020s 👏🏻
“Gather is a great way of finding out what’s going on within the community. It connects the ‘pockets’ of Cambridge. I hope it will bring together all the other hubs and centres within the city” Maria @birkettsllp
“Gather will be a way of opening up and facilitating valuable discussion with other members of a similar level within other businesses” Denis @arcusglobal
Question: “what are you doing to reduce your staff and customers carbon footprint?” @jonholgate explains the largest impact it will make to the world’s carbon footprint however is in their research and marketing more than their independent initiatives”
Question: “what are you doing to reduce your staff and customers carbon footprint?” @jonholgate explains that @Cambridge_Uni has some ambitious plans - by 2050 it will be carbon zero!!! Soon building a large solar farm outside of the city.
Question: “what are you doing to reduce your staff and customers carbon footprint?” - @arcusglobal has bike to work schemes, sustainable offices, central initiatives. @birkettsllp are working to reduce paper use with apps and tech and choosing ‘easy to walk to’ offices.
