Normalize caring about other people and their problems caused by inherently biased societal structures even if those problems don't directly affect you.
Normalize the knowledge that just because you went through something and survived doesn't mean others should have to as well.
To every woman, minoritized person, child, disabled person, LGBTQ+ individual: you are so important and loved.
No one group, no one person, can shoulder this alone. We fight together. We heal each other. We speak up together.
We create the better world we deserve together.
Just had our last fellows retreat. After brunch I had introvert time with headphones when we were in the park.
No one forced me to talk. If they needed me, they gently asked if I could talk. They understood being with them was joy, and let me be in my world.
This is the way.
Our trauma is very often choice-less — it’s not of our own making, and often it’s forced upon us, which leads to loss of self-trust, + people pleasing.
I don’t think we speak enough about the profound healing power of having and exercising CHOICE for a trauma survivor.
We are maintaining our masking requirement for everyone inside our hospitals beyond Saturday, June 11. Ensuring a healthy and safe environment for our patients, staff and physicians is our top priority. https://t.co/3TBmc2XzYZ

There are no “special” needs, there are just needs. As people we have many needs in common, but we also have specific needs as individuals that others might not. They’re not special. They’re just needs. And they ALL deserve to be met. #onpoli
@ItsDeanBlundell@DFisman Complicit: CBC Radio 1 ran a ‘news’ item about the PC’s campaign song on the national and local news today. Streeters and a ‘professional musician’ fawning about how catchy and well-written it is. 🤦♀️

"Amid growing calls by Republicans for fewer doors to help solve the problem of school shootings, the doors began to fight back."
i am begging y’all to stop thinking of activism as going out and arguing with the worst of the worst and start actually thinking about what impacted communities need to heal: love, support, mutual aid, resources etc.
Whenever there’s a collective tragedy, and I set out to talk about it with those I love, I come back to @maggiesmithpoet.
Honestly, it feels harder + harder to sell the world right now, though I WON’T stop believing we could make this place beautiful.

Put a gun reform bill on the floor right now. Tonight. While the nation is reeling from this horror. Make the Republicans filibuster it. Make Sinema and Manchin vote down filibuster reform. Don’t let them hide from the agony their obstruction condemns Americans to suffer.
@picardonhealth This is also a good time to start defining the difference between ‘America,’—ie the United States—and all of America, ie Canada, the US, and South America. We don’t all need to be wearing the same guilt.
