I won't ever condemn Sahagamana. Those women are pujya. Some of them did sahagamana despite the families trying to stop them. People still have steel plate images of their female ancestors who did sahagamana. Especially in V2 families.

Jauhar in Padmavat was glorified not to portray those women as helpless victims forced into death, but to remember them as courageous women who chose death over rape, enslavement and humiliation.

And yes, sometimes death is preferable to a life lived in shame. Not everyone is capable of understanding concepts like honour, dignity and sacrifice.
