Over the past year I've worked on so many data center projects.
The biggest surprise personally? How rarely energy policy folks inside hyperscalers are looped in by their own data center dev teams. In some cases, it became clear they didn't even know what sites their own dev teams were working on.
I don't know why, maybe such folks are ignored for lack of technical/execution/deal making experience?
The people doing PROJECTS are a different breed and ruthlessly focused on standing up compute. They're not quoted in latitude media, but they were closing a $60B deal last week.
This is why real world billion $ investments seem so messy (e.g. putting gas turbines on trucks) vs the idealized white paper. A lot of the AI data center energy discourse is just from people furthest from the action.
@iBladesi Buffett has said for years that he and Charlie would come to different figures if asked to propose an intrinsic value to any organization. Difference in operation has always been a thing within BRK
Thinking about how the only business which has actually seen a decline because of AI is Chegg. instructive to AI’s actual use and what is actually happening in markets. The only businesses disrupted by AI will be those who overspent on it and book those losses when they occur.
@SlBrandin@AriPeskoe I love how folks highlight the grid being a bottleneck to “economic growth” as a problem with the grid and not a problem in the growth.

Breaking: Brookfield and The Nuclear Company teaming up to deliver GW-scale nuclear
Proud to announcing a joint venture between The Nuclear Company and Brookfield to deliver Westinghouse reactors, including to manage the completion of AP1000s in South Carolina.
From the day I discovered nuclear energy my goal has been to build as much of it as possible for the world. Today, with my team at @thenuclearco, we're taking a huge step towards that. It's been an honor to work as Chief of Staff for proven builder-CEO @JonathanWebbKY alongside our legendary Chief Nuclear Officer @TheNuclearJoe as we build the team and technology that can finally fix the nuclear plant deployment problem in the West.
I've been an advocate for nuclear energy long enough to see the revolution in public appreciation for this wondrous technology, but just being popular isn't enough. We have to be able to build on-time, on-budget, with proven designs that are repeated over and over with an experienced and disciplined project management team using the best emerging tech.
That is precisely what we're doing at The Nuclear Company. I'll be sharing more going forward as we deliver on the awesome potential unlocked by today's announcement.
Pretty sure this is what heaven looks like! We are out at @MerleFest right now and enjoying seeing all our friends out here. Come by to say hi at the Instrument Pavillion to the left of the Watson Mainstage! #banjo
