WATCH: #Youth Voices Calling for Greater Climate Action.
As we mark the #InternationalYouthDay, today’s conversations at the National Training of Trainers (ToT) Workshop on Advancing Youth Climate Leadership and Solutions have highlighted an important message: young people need more than a seat at the table, they need the resources and opportunities to lead.
During the conversation, @EmmaXfactor emphasised the potential of stronger youth participation in addressing climate-related challenges, including floods, landslides and droughts, particularly in vulnerable regions such as Karamoja.
As we conclude three days of building youth capacity in climate leadership, advocacy, civic engagement and practical climate solutions, these conversations reinforce why investing in young climate leaders matters.

This #InternationalYouthDay, we recognise that meaningful youth engagement must go beyond creating spaces for young people to participate. It must equip them with the knowledge, skills, networks and opportunities to lead.
For the past three days, youth climate leaders from across Uganda have been part of the National Training of Trainers (ToT) Workshop on Advancing Youth Climate Leadership and Solutions.
Through this engagement, participants have explored climate change, climate advocacy, leadership, climate governance, communication, and practical climate solutions, building their capacity to take knowledge beyond the training room and into their communities.
As we conclude the engagement today, the focus is not simply on what participants have learned, but on what they will do with it: cascade knowledge, strengthen regional youth networks, engage communities, influence decision-making and contribute to locally led climate solutions.

As we commemorate International Youth Day, we reflect on the conversations and lessons from yesterday as we enter the final day of the National Training of Trainers (ToT) Workshop on Advancing Youth Climate Leadership and Solutions.
Yesterday, youth climate leaders from YCC’s Regional Hosting Organizations across Uganda explored climate advocacy, leadership and civic engagement, looking at how young people can move beyond awareness to influence decisions, engage communities, build alliances and advocate for meaningful climate action.
These conversations speak directly to this year’s International Youth Day reflection: young people are not only beneficiaries of climate action, they are leaders, advocates, innovators and agents of change.
Today, we bring together the lessons, skills and experiences gained throughout the training and look ahead to how participants can cascade this knowledge, strengthen youth leadership and drive locally led climate solutions in their respective regions.
As the workshop comes to a close, the goal remains clear: turn knowledge into action, and action into lasting impact.

As @LCOYUganda1 comes to a close, we reflect on an incredible journey of dialogue, collaboration, learning, and youth-led climate action.
As partners in this important platform, @GayoUganda was proud to contribute to conversations that brought young people, policymakers, development partners, innovators, and communities together to shape solutions for a more resilient and sustainable Uganda.
From discussions on NDC 3.0 and the road to #COP31 to our engagements around circular economy, #zerowaste, circular regenerative agriculture, climate finance, and youth leadership, the conference created space for ideas to move beyond conversation and and towards action .
We leave #LCOYUg2026 with new connections, renewed commitment, and an even stronger determination to keep turning youth ideas into climate solutions.

Yesterday, #LCOYUganda2026 came to an end.
But as I reflect on the journey, I find myself thinking less about the closing moments and more about the people and institutions who made it possible for us to reach that moment.
#LCOYUg2026 was never the work of one organization, one person or one team. It was a collective effort.
It was built through partnerships, trust, resources, technical expertise, time, patience, ideas, coordination and most importantly, a shared belief that children and young people in Uganda deserved to be at the center of conversations about the country's climate future.
Under the theme “Children and Youth-Led Climate Action and Innovations for Resilience and Development,” we brought together young people and children from across Uganda to share their experiences, identify priorities, propose solutions and engage with policymakers, development partners, diplomats, civil society, the private sector and other stakeholders.
But none of this would have been possible without our partners. I want to begin by expressing my deepest appreciation to our financial and technical partners @UNDPUganda , @UNICEFUganda , @UKinUganda , @giz_uganda , @JFUganda , @NLinUganda, @UNFCCC , @YCCUganda , @GayoUganda , @UgGirlGuides, @Youth_TJN@HummingbirdUg . @CCD_UG
Thank you for believing in the vision. Thank you for investing in a platform that placed children and young people at the center of Uganda's climate conversation.

Our discussions highlighted the importance of rethinking #waste as a valuable resource, scaling youth-led innovations, promoting #sustainable production and consumption, and advancing policies that support resource recovery, reuse, and green entrepreneurship.
As we enter Day 3 of #LCOYUg2026, we continue to build on our insights and commitment to zero-waste solutions that protect the environment and create economic opportunities for young people.
