@Citi updated their ‘Wildcards’ for H226: #3 on the list analyzed recent hoarding trends of critical minerals by governments & the subsequent market impacts. They explain that copper prices would need to EXCEED $20,000 per tonne to produce enough material to sustain higher inventory levels! Copper is currently trading around $14,000/t on the LME today.
If you fast forward this presentation to the Q&A at the end, you can hear from Nittetsu, and our Chilean CEO. We are getting ready to start building a new copper mine in Chile.
In case you missed it: Nittetsu’s Mita Shinichiro, Jay Chmelauskas, CEO of Camino, and Marcelo Bruna, CEO of Cuprum (Puquios JV) provided the latest update on Camino last week. Watch it here: https://t.co/NNhoYtIhBE
July is typically a quiet time of the year for physical copper demand... not this year. There is no other time in recent memory when, during the first two weeks of July, 40,000 to 50,000 tonnes of copper cathode inventories were drawn down in China.
Plus... a massive 25,725 tonnes of copper warrants were cancelled on the LME today (copper marked for physical withdrawal), reducing the net available copper on the LME to 174,675 tonnes - down from 350,850 tonnes on April 30th. In other words, there are only 174,675 tonnes of copper outside China that China can draw on. That's nothing.
This is all incredibly bullish. The copper market is getting tighter and tighter, and it's about to push higher. We have heard traders talking about $20,000 per tonne of copper being on the horizon.
Copper equities are absurdly oversold due to thin summer trading (driven by computers) and they will soon catch up... and IMHO Ivanhoe Mines $IVN.TO is the cheapest of them all. We are making a bottom in the dog days of summer.
Progress on the ground at the Puquios #copper project in Chile! Mine site activity is increasing as we prepare for construction, including widening mine access roads to receive the large-scale equipment. $COR.V

Comex copper prices are brushing all-time highs as we hear rumours that a US copper tariff may be introduced from January 2027. The premium that Comex copper is trading at over the LME, for December 2026 futures, is closing in on $1,000 per tonne (the arbitrage is right hand column)
Watch Jay Chmelauskas, CEO of Camino, discuss Camino’s near-term goals, including the planned construction start at the Puquios #Copper Project this summer and anticipated drilling results from Costa de Cobre in Peru. https://t.co/18Dd3OO8ub

In addition to @MorganStanley , @Citibank have also revised higher their near-term copper price target to $15,000 per tonne over the next 6-12 months ($13,636 per tonne today). Citibank expects price tailwinds from supply growth concerns, US copper tariffs, as well as strong global growth even if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed through the summer… and the reopening of the Strait being even more bullish for copper.
This is why Morgan Stanley says buy the dip

Camino team was just in Japan advancing a proposed debt facility with a Japanese lender to fund construction of the Puquios #copper mine in Chile, targeting a potential mid-year drawdown. Metallurgical work for Puquios expansion underway at Nittetsu’s research centre near Tokyo.
Yes, this interview is from a year ago, March 2025, at the PDAC. The first price target $6/lb Cu was hit today. Let’s see if the market supports the other price increase scenarios in 2026. Good time to build our Puquios copper mine in Chile, and keep drilling Los Chapitos,Peru.
