Today 3/1/2022 at 2:11pm the City of Waltham closed in it acquisition of the 28-acre former UMASS Field Station farm located at 240 Beaver Street. While it took over 3 years to acquire, it was well worth the wait. A win for our children and grandchildren and Waltham!

If you have visited the UMASS Field Station farm in #Waltham, you know that it is sacred ground. Please help us in preserving all 58 UMASS Field Station acres for farming purposes. If nothing else we owe it to Cornelia Warren. @WalthamLandTrst @CommunityFarms @bostonareagleen

The Field Station began in #Waltham in 1922. The land was donated by the estate of Cornelia Warren – the greatest benefactor of Waltham. The UMASS Field station is where the famous Waltham Butternut squash The Butternut squash tasted “smooth as butter, and sweet as nut”.

At the 12/26 Council meeting I introduced a resolution for the City to acquire Waltham's last working farm - the 58 acre UMASS Field Station. Councillors Nabulime and McLaughlin co-signed. UMASS recently revealed that it intends to evict all tenants.
