“I am a Catholic… Give all the glory to God”
Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza emphasizes the importance of his Catholic faith, revealing that he never misses Sunday Mass.
Glory be to God
How did we reach a point in our nation where violence seems to be the solution for so many people struggling to overcome hate, anger, conflict, disagreements, breakups, and differing political views? It appears that many have lost their moral compass and disregard the sanctity of life. What happened to the commandment, "Thou shalt not kill"? There seems to be a lack of love for one's neighbor. How does life become so difficult that individuals lose all hope and cease to care about themselves and others? As a nation, we cannot succumb to evil, lawlessness, and the spirit of murder and senseless violence.
The sad truth is that we are witnessing an ungodly spiritual issue manifesting itself in many destructive and violent ways in America and around the world. We cannot overcome the forces of evil in the hearts of human beings without God. Since Cain killed his brother Abel, humans have struggled to overcome evil with good. When there is an absence of God in our hearts and lives, we see the worst of humanity.
God's promise to us is: "If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14).
