The GoFundMe for my dog, Nala, is live.

I posted about it earlier, but I had to rush her to the emergency vet at 2 AM this morning after noticing her belly was slightly distended and firm. She was given painkillers and given fluids intravenously while getting X-Rays, which showed that her spleen had twisted, apparently spontaneously. Due to this, she will either need to receive surgery to get it untwisted, or even removed. I had lost my previous dog to what I believe was bloat so I was very paranoid about this, and I'm glad I was. I also just lost my cat of 18 years last month and I don't want to lose Nala too.

Nala deserves a long life like the one I was able to provide my cat, and I hope people feel touched enough to donate if they are able to. I had started dogsitting Nala when she was still a puppy last year for a family friend. Last summer, they were no longer able to keep her, and since we had already become close, I took her in. For nearly a year now, she's been a constant companion to me, and even my cats. She is turning 2 in less than 3 weeks. I want her to make it to her 2nd birthday, and many more after that.

The good news is the surgery will make such a thing happening again outright impossible, and they will perform a procedure that will also make it incredibly unlikely for her stomach to twist in the future as well. Not just that, but post-recovery, she is expected to be fully recovered with no adverse effects.

The bad news is the cost. I have received an estimate from the vet as high as $16,000. I have looked at plans to help with this immense cost, but the best I can do is receive an amount of time to pay it off before interest kicks in, and there's very little I can do to mitigate the cost itself. I do not make nearly enough to afford this, even factoring what savings I do have, it does not come close. These expenses include her initial exam, her surgery, and her post-care treatment.

Nala was born on 7/7. What should be a lucky number. Unfortunately she has to deal with something like this before she's even 2, and it's not fair to her, as it would be unfair to any other dog. Nala is the sweetest, most loyal dog. She loves to play, go for walks, and meet new people and animals, even if she can be shy sometimes. She has a lot of love and years left to give, and I want to be there for her as she's been there for me. I do not like asking for money, but I need help, and I feel lf I don't do this it would be failing her, and she doesn't deserve this.

Please, if you have ANY money you can part with to help us, we would be immensely grateful. If you can't donate, spreading this tweet and the GoFundMe would mean a lot as well.

I also work in video editing; if people need any sort of work done, I will do what I can, as anything I get will help to pay for her procedures. Any sort of online work I could do would also be helpful.

The goal may be altered depending on the operation; it will likely be less than it currently is, but I have no way of knowing until she is recovered.
