As a reporter, I was trained to ask tough questions of those in positions of power. We understood that as part of the role of the 4th Estate in a constitutional democracy. Clear now how much of free speech rests on norms observed by the powerful, not constitutionalized rights.
Please mark the date and join us later this year at @POLSISEngage / @VisualPolUQ for the first Annual Emma Hutchison Memorial Lecture with

Delighted to have a paper out with @sovinda_po and Manghout Ki.

Turkey has detained 15 teenage girls - minors - forcing them to testify against their parents. These are the actions of a despot, not an American ally and member of NATO. This violation of the basic rule of law is completely unacceptable.

🚨 I am deeply concerned about the illegal abduction of four Turkish nationals in Kenya, who are under UNHCR protection.
This transnational repression by agents of the Turkish government is a violation of humanitarian laws.
I urge Kenya to uphold international laws and ensure no refugees are deported based on non-refoulement principles.
