We had more NZ #physicists than that at our conference just 2 weeks ago (we do count physics secondary teachers too). And don't try to tell us that #Barbie isn't also a physicist!
@hendysh @nicgaston @TectonoFluids Well this is the view that I think teachers are expressing, and the draft curriculum is part of this problem because it's an unnecessary distraction. But also re your original point, clearly it's not just 'disciplinary discomfort' motivating those speaking up.
@nicgaston @hendysh @TectonoFluids It can of course be a negative sum, both in terms of demands on teachers and quality of education; and the draft looks like it's heading that way.
@hendysh A bit patronizing. It's a secondary school curriculum (not research), it's a fragile workforce, and they're rightly worried about decreasing rigour in what's being taught. In that context transdisciplinarity is firmly a nice-to-have not the basis for a curriculum
It's fantastic to see so many NZ #physics educators, practitioners and students at the 2023 NZIP Conference, as we kick off 3 days of presentations, workshops and long-awaited catchups with colleagues @MasseyUni#nzip2023
Time for Hackathon at CRISP, the @MacDiarmidInsti career skills programme. People should be scrambling to recruit these students! @PEPworldwide was next door ... yesterday was all about finance (ta @EY_NewZealand) and visits (incl @DawnAerospace) Thanks @UCNZ for having us!
