@MarvelSupport I sent a support request to [email protected] on the 18th and a couple of follow ups along the way. I’ve not yet received a response. Normally things don’t take more than a couple of days. Anything I should do differently? Thanks for your help!
I jumped on Twitter this evening to participate in a Wheel of Time book club thing I read about (I’ve never read the series).
Instead of doing that I found out that I’ll never use hapi in a project ever.
@lunitaire I read the prologue and first two chapters of Eye for this hashtag book club thing that I was thinking of doing. I like it. I’ll likely continue to work my way through it. But I also have a bunch of other books on the go. Murderbots just got a novel treatment, so that’s amazing!
@JMW I read the prologue and the first two chapters of The Eye of the World for this book club. I like it. I may keep going, but may not be doing this Twitter hashtag book club thing.
@jmscolo You make a great point. Normally you’d be right.
But since I apparently can’t do anything on social media any more without feeling a touch, ahem, irritable, I have a bit more time on my hands.
It’s going to be a close call to the finish, though.
Around two weeks ago, I put up a tweet about how I was laid off due to an intended acquisition along with several other incredible folk. The response from that tweet was astounding. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who reached out.
Obviously, on top of everything else, this continues to be a haul. But between the moral support, often from total strangers, and people offering potential opportunities, this has been much better than it could have been.
@bryanaknight I have been hoping to work with you again for years. Combine that with the fact that working at MS/GH has been a real career goal of mine, this was disappointing for many reasons.
A little over a week ago, the world rejoiced when GitHub announced their intention to acquire npm. A few days later, after nearly a year as a staff engineer at npm, I was laid off along with some other excellent engineers and employees.
Naturally, I am now looking for work.
@zkat__@brianarn Thank you! To be honest, I've generally avoided twitter since starting at npm. I'm sure you can understand why. I'll definitely look at your thread!
Many other wonderful people who I mentored and worked with have also been victim to this layoff. There are remarkable people. I really want to see these fantastic folk continue on in their careers. I am happy to pass along anything to them as well.
And while beggars can't be choosers, it would be wonderful if your opportunity was tied to a socially progressive service or something that allowed me to engage with creative communities. My DMs are open.
